It is the decision that most shapes the result of a tiled shower, and it is nearly always made too late. The type of drain determines how many slopes you have to form, how the ceramic is cut and whether you end up seeing a metal grate or nothing at all.
Square centre drain
The classic one. Water runs towards the centre from four sides, so four slopes have to be formed. It is the cheapest option and the one that needs the least height.
If you want it out of sight, the Sumi Level is clad with your own tile: from above you only make out the perimeter joint.
Linear drain
Water is collected along one whole side, which allows a single slope. The floor comes out far more even and is easier to tile with large pieces.
You have two routes: the Lineal Level, which is clad and disappears under the floor covering, or the DRY50 Lineal Flat, which arrives with the membrane already welded on and a grate in steel, chrome, squares or microcement.
Prefabricated tray
If you would rather not gamble on forming the slopes on site, the Plato Level comes with the slope already sorted from the factory. You lay it, tile it with the same floor as the bathroom and you get a continuous plane with no steps. It is the safest option against puddles.
Drain in the wall
The most discreet option of all: the Secret Wall Level integrates the drainage inside the plasterboard partition. There is absolutely nothing on the floor — no grate, no drain, no central joint. Ideal with large format or microcement, where any cut shows.
How to decide
- Tight budget → square drain, or the Acquafácil range.
- Large-format floor → linear or wall drain, so you do not have to cut pieces.
- Little height available → check the installation height before buying: it goes from 59 to 86 mm depending on the model.
- Nothing visible at all → Secret Wall Level.
